Drivers and Security

Roles built on reliability and trust

Drivers and security staff are trusted with your family safety, your vehicle and your home, often with considerable independence and little direct supervision. Judgment and reliability matter more in this category than almost any measurable skill, which is why the interview and trial process should focus on exactly those things.

Who typically hires this: Households with school runs and daily commutes, families where a member does not drive, professionals who work while travelling, and homes or compounds needing a consistent security presence.

What to Actually Check When Hiring a Driver

Start with the licence: confirm it is valid, current and appropriate for the vehicle they will drive. Then check driving history directly with previous employers rather than relying on a candidate account of their own record, since this is exactly the area where a written reference tells you least.

Run the trial on a route you genuinely use, ideally including a school run or a congested stretch, rather than a short loop around the block. How someone handles a diversion, heavy traffic or an unexpected delay tells you far more than how smoothly they drive on an empty road.

Security Guards for Homes and Compounds

Security placements need clarity about what the role actually is before anyone starts. A guard managing gate access for a family home is a different proposition from one covering a commercial premises or a shared compound overnight, and the experience that suits one does not automatically suit the other.

Be specific about shift structure from the outset. Overnight coverage, rotating shifts and single-guard versus multi-guard arrangements all change what a candidate is agreeing to, and ambiguity here is a common reason security placements end early.

Personal Attendants

The batman or personal attendant role is well understood in Pakistani households with a military or civil-service background: a single trusted person handling personal errands, wardrobe, travel arrangements and general day to day support for an individual rather than the household as a whole.

It is a role built almost entirely on discretion and consistency, and it tends to work best as a long-term arrangement rather than a frequently rotated position, which is worth factoring into how you set pay and terms from the start.

Common Questions

Do you verify a driver licence and driving record?

Yes. Licence validity is confirmed as part of verification for driver placements, alongside the standard identity, police character certificate and previous employer checks we run for every role.

Can a driver also handle other household duties?

Some drivers are willing to take on errands and light additional duties, but this should be agreed and written into the arrangement upfront rather than added on later. A driver hired purely to drive who is gradually given cleaning duties is a placement heading for an early end.
