Candidate Checks Before You Hire
Six Areas to Review Before Hiring
Ask which checks have been completed for the individual candidate and review the available evidence. Clarify outstanding items and role-specific requirements before confirming the placement. These are discussion points, not a certificate for every applicant.
Identity documents
Ask which identity details have been checked and what evidence is available. Handle copies privately and return original documents to the candidate.
Background documents
Discuss any required police character certificate or other background document. Check its source, date and relevance; do not assume every document or database check is complete.
Employment references
Ask about previous duties, dates and relevant references. Clarify who supplied the information and which references could be contacted.
Practical assessment
Agree an appropriate paid trial or interview exercise for the duties. Professional roles require relevant credential checks; an informal trial does not replace them.
Readiness for the role
Discuss any role-specific fitness or professional requirements through appropriate channels. Keep sensitive information private and avoid assuming a general agency enquiry provides medical clearance.
Replacement support
Six-month replacement support follows the placement agreement. Confirm eligibility, reporting steps and the replacement procedure before paying the agency fee.
Free Replacement Cover On Every Placement
If the placement does not work out within 6 months, we restart the search and place a replacement at no additional placement fee.
