Hire a gardener for the size and routine of your garden
A small paved courtyard with pots needs a different schedule from a lawn with beds, hedges and mature trees. Tell Staffly which areas need regular care, what tools you have and how often you want visits. For Islamabad and Rawalpindi, include the sector, society or phase so a candidate can assess reporting time and travel.
Regular maintenance or a separate garden project?
For routine maintenance, describe watering, weeding, lawn care, pruning within the worker’s skills and cleanup. A redesign, irrigation installation, large tree removal or specialist treatment is a different scope. Do not assume a regular gardener’s salary includes materials, construction or hazardous tree work. Explain who will remove garden waste and who approves purchases.
Compare a part-time visit with a full-time appointment
Measure the work rather than the title: planted area, number of pots, lawn size, access to water and seasonal tasks. A visit arrangement needs an agreed frequency and duration; a full-time role needs a realistic daily duty list. If you also want general household help, list those tasks separately and check that the combined workload fits the paid hours.
What to assess during the interview
Walk around the garden together. Ask the candidate to identify immediate priorities, explain how they would manage watering and describe the tools they can safely use. A paid practical assessment can show careful handling and cleanup without asking someone to undertake dangerous work. Discuss experience with the plants you actually have rather than relying on broad claims about landscaping.
Keep plants, supplies and wages separate
Agree the employee’s pay, Staffly’s one-time placement fee and any material budget separately. Keep receipts for approved purchases and record completed work. Review the replacement conditions for a permanent placement before confirming it; one-off garden projects need their own written scope. Confirm current candidate availability with our team.
