How to Hire a Verified Driver in Karachi: A Complete Checklist

Karachi's size and traffic make the wrong driver hire expensive fast. Here is exactly what to verify before you hand over your car keys.

Karachi is Pakistan's largest and most spread-out city, and that changes what you should look for in a driver. A commute that looks short on a map can take an hour through Shahrah-e-Faisal at the wrong time, and a driver who does not already understand that reality will cost you daily, not occasionally. Here is the checklist we use for every driver we place across DHA, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PECHS and Bahadurabad.

1. Verify the Licence, Not Just Ask for It

Ask to see the original licence, check the expiry date, and confirm the category matches your vehicle and whether you need someone comfortable with manual transmission, since a meaningful share of older fleet vehicles in Karachi still are.

2. Check the Driving Record

A clean record over several years matters more than raw years claimed. Ask directly about accidents, challans, and how they handle Karachi's more aggressive traffic culture on arteries like Shahrah-e-Faisal and University Road.

3. Confirm Local Route Knowledge

Karachi's size means a driver needs real working knowledge of your specific corridor, DHA and Clifton's phases and lanes are laid out very differently from Gulshan-e-Iqbal's numbered blocks or North Nazimabad's older grid. Test this in the interview by asking how they would route from your home to the airport at different times of day, since the answer should differ meaningfully.

4. Call Previous Employers Directly

This is the step most people skip. A short call to a previous Karachi employer reveals more about punctuality, vehicle care and how someone handles a bad traffic day than any CV.

5. CNIC and Police Character Certificate

Verify the CNIC against NADRA records and request a police character certificate from their local station. Hesitation here is a clear red flag.

6. Ask About Areas They Will Not Drive To

Some drivers are genuinely uncomfortable with certain routes or late-night pickups in specific parts of the city. Ask directly and upfront rather than discovering a limitation later when you actually need the trip made.

7. Set Clear Expectations in Writing

Before the driver starts, confirm in writing, even a simple message is enough, on:

  • Working hours and weekly day off
  • Whether personal use of the vehicle is allowed outside work hours
  • Who covers fuel and routine maintenance
  • How incidents, however minor, should be reported

What Drivers Cost in Karachi

Driver salaries in Karachi typically start around PKR 35,000 to 42,000 per month, running slightly higher than other cities given the cost of living and the demands of the commute itself.

Skip the Guesswork

Every driver we place in Karachi has already cleared CNIC verification, a police character certificate check, and a direct reference call to at least one previous Karachi employer, before you ever meet them.

Request a driver and we will match you with a verified candidate, usually within 24 hours.
